dear all,
it’s been well over 24 hours since my last correspondence and to answer the burning question - shannon is not still in labour. at exactly 10:40pm on wednesday, january 11 in the year of our lord 2006, Shannon “uterus of steal” Castle delivered a beautiful healthy minature person. yes, sweet little Eleanor Iris Castle entered the world with bright eyes and nary a peep. weighing in at a very respectable 7 pounds, 12 ounces, she’s one skinny little kid - she stretches close to 21 inches! though less so now, she come out rather slippery!
both mom and ela (a planned short form) are doing great. they’re working through the whole breast feeding process and it seems like the little one is finally nailing the latch. not the easiest maneuver to master, this breast feeding business. yvanne, our midwife, has been super helpful these last few days, coming over twice today to help with the feeding routine. i am also helpful as it is my role to pester ela so she doesn’t drift off during feeding. i’ve always been effective at annoyment and now i’m finally being recognized for my skill.
anyway, i hear some squeals so i must go. enjoy the pics. they’re taken by shan’s mom. i’ll send a couple of mine when i get them uploaded. until then, thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
all our love,
garry (the proud dad), shannon (the amazing birthing machine) and eleanor (the beautiful)
