hello friends and family,
i have but a few moments between contractions so read quickly as i type fast. yesterday, january 10, shannon’s ultrasound showed low fluid levels and we were told time’s up on waiting. induction was the word of the day. we checked-in to KGH at 1:40pm, saw a doctor at 4:00 and began some cervix-ripening drugs at 8:00pm. shan and i slept over at the hospital… contraction!
back rubbing seems to be working well to keep shannon focused…
anyway, the cervidel kicked in early this morning and by noon shan was at 2cm. oxytocin, a labour inducing hormone, was introduced in the early afternoon and contractions have been steady and building since. sometime this evening we will be parents… wow! the little one has been on a heart moniter almost continually since we arrived yesterday and all the nurses have commented on how happy the baby is! the staff at KGH have been great so far - we were not expecting to have much contact with the staff as we have been with a midwife for the entire pregnancy.
overall, we’re a little overwhelmed but in good spirits.
that is all for now - thought you’d want to some news (finally!)
talk to you soon,
garry (and shannon, who’s busy at the moment)

Congratulations!!!
A lucky baby with two fantastic parents! Prayers and high fives for all of you
Welcome to the world, Littlest Castle!
this just in. in the late hours of yesterday the babe was trumpeted into the world with much fanfare. Sources close to the family have stated they have unofficially weighed the babe in at 7lbs 12ounces (a keeper) and have confirmed that it may not be a boy. Sources also have confirmed family is doing well and that a very disturbing grin of joy was seen on the father’s face this morning. Unconfirmed sources have said the Castle’s have named the delivered one Elinor Iris Castle. (proper spelling tba) Wise people from the west were seen arriving at the birth scene.
Stay posted here for any more late breaking news.
Way to go Garry. Sounds like a baby worth of a Blazing Falcon! Now take good care of Shannon. Though we’re sure you did most of the hard labour on this one, she’ll no doubt need a little TLC. We’re looking forward to meeting the newest Castle!
