Globalization seems to be an unavoidable fact of contemporary life but how do Christians engage with the globalizing world? Are we globals, locals, or both? Are we pro- or anti-globalization? This course aims to place globalization trends within a Christian framework to see how Christianity influnces globalization and vice-versa. The aim is to obtain a critical handle on one of the key issues of the 21st century, not just so that we can think more clearly about globalization, but also live more faithfully in a globalizing world.
The format is seminar-style, with talk and plenty of time for discussion. The reading is a booklet: Peter Heslam, Globalization: Unravelling the New Capitalism (Grove 2002) which, along with refreshments, is included in the registration cost.
Cost $25 for the full course, $15 for students and low/no wage.
